Here are four keys to help you deal with offenses:
1. Don’t Curse it
When you sin or you are offended, don’t curse it. Don’t dwell on the issues of “if only I had” or “why me?” and let go of any anger. As Joseph did, boldly declare in the face of circumstances, “you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” (Gen. 50:20).
2. Don’t Nurse it
You nurse offenses by self-pity. When you think “poor me, I don’t deserve this” or wallow in guilt, you nurse your offense. Refuse to let self-pity crawl into your heart, because it is self-destructive.
3. Don’t Rehearse it
Rehearsing the wrongs done to you or your own sins, creates inner turmoil and torment. Isaiah 26:3 promises prefect peace if you keep your mind on God. Whether it is a sin you have committed or an offense committed against you, stop talking about it! By an act of your will, you must do as the Apostle Paul did and forget those things that are behind (Phil 3:3).You will never have a future as long as you live in the past
4. Disperse it
Covenant in your heart daily that you choose to forgive and forget as an act of your will. When you do that you disperse the offense that was committed, which means you disarm it of its power over you. True forgiveness comes by recognizing the wrong done, confessing the hurt to God, and choosing to release the negative emotions associated with the offense When you do that you position yourself for God to move supernaturally in your life.
